Ebony DeBerry
District 2
Teacher. Organizer. Parent.
Ebony is a graduate of Chicago Public Schools, a parent of a recent CPS graduate, and a longtime educator and activist. She is dedicated to ensuring every child in Chicago has access to a great education. As the Manager of Educational Initiatives at ONE Northside, she oversees the Parent Mentor program, coordinating parents to work one-on-one or in small groups with children.
Rooted in Rogers Park
Ebony is a lifelong resident of Rogers Park. She attended Gale Elementary School and Sullivan High School before becoming a teacher in the same district where she grew up! Her experiences are connected to her community, managing youth programs at Howard Area Community Center and organizing successful campaigns to keep Gale Elementary open during a round of Chicago school closures and to ban questions about felonies and arrest history on job applications in Illinois.
