Rev. Robert Jones is a dedicated pastor and community organizer with deep roots in the Bronzeville community. His unwavering commitment to education and social justice has made him a steadfast organizer for his community. As the pastor of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and a leader on the Local School Council at Dunbar High School, Pastor Jones has consistently stood up for working-class families and their right to quality education. In 2015, Pastor Jones went on a 34-day hunger strike to save Dyett High School from closing.

Rooted in community

Rev. Jones is running for the Chicago Board of Education to be a leader in educational equity and justice, ensuring that students in the 10th district have access to the high-quality education they deserve.

Robert’s dedication to his community is evident in his leadership and action. Since 2009, he has served as the pastor of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, where he has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with community members, faith leaders, and labor coalitions to seek justice for students, workers, and families.

His commitment to education led him to join the Local School Council at Dunbar High School and take a stand as a hunger striker to save Dyett High School. These actions highlight his willingness to go above and beyond to fight for the rights of his community.
